PART-TIME SCHOOL BOARD OFFICE RECEPTIONIST
Position: Part-Time School Board Office Receptionist Location: School Board Office Reports To: Director of Human Resources or Superintendent Employment Status: Part-Time Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Compensation: $12.77 per hour FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY
The Part-Time School Board Office Receptionist serves as the primary point of contact for visitors and callers to the School Board Office. The receptionist provides courteous and professional customer service, assists with general office operations, and helps maintain a welcoming and organized environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet and assist visitors entering the School Board Office in a professional and courteous manner.
- Answer incoming telephone calls and direct calls to the appropriate staff member or department.
- Monitor the main entrance and assist with visitor access to the building.
- Receive messages and provide general information to employees, parents, community members, and other visitors.
- Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail, packages, and deliveries.
- Assist with outgoing mail and routine office correspondence as needed.
- Perform basic clerical duties, including copying, scanning, filing, and document preparation.
- Maintain the reception area in a neat and professional manner.
- Assist Central Office staff with routine clerical projects as time permits.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding employee, student, and School Board matters encountered in the course of employment.
- Follow School Board policies, procedures, and established office protocols.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

- Be dependable, punctual, and able to maintain a consistent work schedule.
- Demonstrate basic computer skills and the ability to use standard office equipment.
- Be able to organize and prioritize routine tasks.
- Exercise good judgment when handling visitors, telephone calls, and confidential information.
- Work effectively and cooperatively with employees and members of the public.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous receptionist, clerical, customer service, or office experience preferred.
- Ability to successfully complete all employment requirements established by Lunenburg County Public Schools.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Part-time employment, Monday through Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., according to the work calendar established by Lunenburg County Public Schools. Compensation is $12.77 per hour and is subject to adjustment as required by applicable federal or state minimum wage laws. |
